This map plots the areas allocated by the Indonesian government to companies for logging. The data was gathered by the World Resources Institute (WRI) and supplied by the Indonesian Forest Ministry. The plots in red indicate the Asia Pulp & Paper group's supplier concessions, with the data obtained through their forest conservation monitoring dashboard.
Data of the hot spots was obtained through Nasa's Firms (Fire Information for Resource Management System) database which pulls archived fire alerts from Jan 1 to Oct 11, 2015. There is a margin of error in determining the accuracy of hot spot locations provided by Nasa, but this is an accepted tool employed by forest watchers globally to monitor the state of the world's forests.
This project is part of an ongoing investigation. More information like company details will be added progressively.
Email firstname.lastname@example.org if you have information about other companies being investigated and their supplier concessions.
