Tracking down Singapore’s unsold private homes

As Singapore’s property market cools, more private homes are waiting to be snapped up. A total of 31,362 new units are set for completion in 2016 and 2017. Of them, 7,482 units - or 23.9% - still have not found a buyer. The Straits Times tracks down the locations of these new units and looks at what is causing this oversupply.

Where all the unsold units are

Each blue circle represents an upcoming project which is set for completion in 2016 and 2017. The bigger the circle, the more units available. How to search: Filter by property type and use the search bar or geolocation to search for projects. Find out more about the property, such as the price range.

The property market climate in charts

A weak economy, tighter foreign manpower policies, and more units coming onto the market - these are some factors driving up vacancy rates.

The vacancy rate at a 10-year high

For Q4 of 2015, the vacancy rate reached 8.1% with 25,532 private residential units available on the market.
