The monkey species most commonly seen in Singapore is the long-tailed macaque.

Macaques dwell on the fringes of forests, and have lived alongside humans for a long time.

They can be a nuisance for homes on the edges of forests where they range.

They steal food, raid garbage cans, sometimes damage property and very rarely, injure people.

Complaints by residents have led to the trapping and culling of the macaques.

But one person has made it her mission to end this “war” by helping people understand them.

If you meet them, keep your distance and leave them alone.
